Cbanker says Russia cannot lift foreign currency withdrawal limits

MOSCOW, Sep 28 (PRIME) -- The central bank cannot adjust the limits on foreign currency withdrawal from banking accounts due to the Western sanctions against exports of banknotes to Russia, Deputy Chairman Alexei Zabotkin said at a banking forum on Wednesday.

“As to withdrawal of cash from accounts. In the conditions of strict limits, namely, a ban on sending cash U.S. dollars and euros to Russia, slapped by the governments of the unfriendly states, it is impossible to adjust the withdrawal limits,” he said.

The central bank plans a long-term rise of the share of the ruble in savings and settlements, including international settlements, the official also said.
